Meet Derek - a Northland surfer, dad and husband with a big dream of opening up his very own surf shop. Derek's passion for surfing has been a long love affair (as well as with his trusty sidekick aka wife Rachelle) and his dedication to the surf runs deep. Catch him in a conversation about the latest wave and he'll have you hooked.
When opportunity struck, combined with Derek's go get it attitude he jumped at the chance to finally create the vision he'd be harbouring in his mind for so long, to turn it into something real, somewhere he could share his love for surfing with others - and create everyones local OASIS.
Derek believes that everyone should be given a chance to enjoy the surfing lifetsyle that Northland has to offer, get kitted out in the latest surf apparell and grab a quality cuppa whilst you're at it.
Oasis wouldn't be what is it without the input from his amazing wife Rachelle and it's incredible team, their passion and dedication is the driving force in creating the quality experience that every customer deserves when they shop with us.
An Update...
Derek embodied the spirit of Oasis, and it is with heavy hearts that we share the news of his passing after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the driving force behind our surf shop, and his memory will forever be woven into the very fabric of Oasis.
Rachelle, his devoted wife, is determined to carry forward Derek's dream of the surf shop, pouring her unwavering commitment and dedication into its future. She is determined to honor his legacy by continuing to provide the same passion and quality that defined Derek's vision.
We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to all our customers who have been part of Derek's dream. Your support has been invaluable, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We know that Derek would be profoundly appreciative of the love and camaraderie you've brought to Oasis.
The Shop
We’ve created a funky space, housing some of the most iconic and trusted surf labels and some exciting new and more boutique ones. Our mission is simple: help uncover your inner explorer, for those who want to experience an endless summer all combined in a relaxed, fun, and interactive shopping experience. We’ve even added in an all-important Allpress coffee bar so our customers are ready to take on the day especially after a good dawny before work.
